This cool LEGO Technic Desert Racer can handle all types of terrain. The strong pull-back motor provides rapid acceleration and with the 4 enormous wheels it can overcome all obstacles. This cool model also has a roll cage to protect the driver, with a row of lights on top for midnight races. Includes a cool towing winch to pull the car loose, curved exhaust, stickers and a racing number. For even more action on the race track, combine this model with the LEGO Technic 42026 - Black Champion Racer, and build a Race Truck with 2 pull-back motors!

This combined model build went well till close to the end for the rear wing.In the buildining instruction it uses a normal worm gear 2L and a 5L axle with stop. Both parts are not in the sets! This is what it all comes down to: First image the step in the instruction, second image the part in the inventory of the booklet and finally how I managed to solve it with existing parts in both the sets. At first I thought there was an error in the inventory in bricklink.

Pullback motor

The pullback motor is a strong one and can give some speed to this car. Especially on a wooden floor. On carpet it does it, but a way shorter running distance. The torque is divided over 2 small and 2 bigger gears. On the axle a 13 tooth,than a 26 tooth gear a 12 gear one and the a bigger drum shaped gear of around 36 tooth.(I can't find a good picture)with the spring in it. Which brings it to a ratio of 2:3.

Livery

 

The livery of this car is flashy and fits the type of vehicle very well. Without the stickers it is a bit of dull set. When you applied the stickers the set brightens up and gets somemore body. I am always surprised how Lego manages to get more out of a set with some strategically placed stickers.

Winch

In general these pullback sets lack the Technic mechanisms. So for this one I was ahppily surprised to find a winch added toit. It is a manual one but still adds something extra.

• Black Tire 43.2mm D. x 26mm Balloon Small.
• Black Wheel 30.4mm D. x 20mm with No Pin Holes and Reinforced Rim.
